Zola loves three bug toys she has, so her very loving aunt Barandy hired me to paint them for her. Zola was quite pleased.

SPARTANBURG LOGO IDEAS

SO I HAVE TURNED OFF THE PAINTING SIDE OF MY BRAIN AND NOW I AM DOING SOME IDENTITY WORK WHICH WAS ALOT OF FUN. I REALLY HAD NO IDEAS STARTING ON THIS BUT GOT INTO A GOOD LATE NIGHT GROOVE AND OUT CAME A BUNCH OF THESE IDEAS. THE CITY OF SPARTANBURG IS HAVING A LOGO DESIGN CONTEST TO CREATE AN IDENTITY FOR THE NEXT 18 MONTHS WHILE SPARTANBURG WORKS ON A PLAN OF REDEFINIG WHAT THE CITY IS ALL ABOUT. THE MAIN CONCEPT EMPHASIZED WAS THAT THE IDENTITY REFLECT CREATIVITY OF THE PEOPLE, PLACES, WORK, AND ATMOSPHERE OF SPARTANBURG. I DON'T KNOW IF I CAPTURED THAT BUT I HAVE SORT OF A GOOD JUSTIFICATION FOR EACH LOGO PRESENTED AND I DO HAVE A FAVORITE BUT I WON'T SAY WHAT IT IS.

My friends in Five Way Friday are celebrating their 10 year anniversary as a band, although they are all yuppies now...,. well except Mac, but they still can rock the house. They are playing a show at the Windjammer this month. I hope to be there.

Here are some great pictures from my friend and photog extra-ordinaire Ian Curcio (iancurcio.com). He shot these for LINK magazine. The group shot is a bunch of good folks of young professionals from Spartanburg and the other is my friend and amazing printmaker Andrew Blanchard. He needs a website. Andrew picked up one of my pieces at the Hub Bub BYOA Art Show this past weekend.
